Me and a business partner are thinking about starting an online dating site. The site really will not be targeted towards any niche mostly for singles searching to meet someone. Thinking about making the site free and charge a subscription for upgrade services. But not 100% sure if we should make it free or charge an initial membership. If we make it free we would like to make revenue through advertisement. What are some good ways to make a good monthly revenue by using advertisement. We have heard of Google Adsense, what about affliate programs. We know POF is making alot of money by using Google Adsense. Please give us your advice and pointers.
Hi Michael, The method of monetization will depend on your strategy and target audience. If your target audience has money to spend, promote products with decent ticket-size. If your visitors can afford cheap stuff only, promote those. You can also have AdSense simultaneously. Experiment and see what works on your website.

Give incentives to people for registering. Advertise your website. Fake profiles won’t make your website good. It will just be an illusion.
